Maths Challenge Success for Year 9 and 10

Just before the Easter break, a group of Year 9 and 10 students embarked upon an exhilarating journey – the United Kingdom’s Mathematic Trust Maths Challenge.  Maths teacher Mr Lochab writes about the event:

Heart of England took part in this prestigious competition after a break since before Covid-19.  Our young problem solvers have taken up the baton again and embraced the challenge with unwavering enthusiasm.

They tackled problems with fiery determination, showcasing not only their resilience but also their precise logical thinking.  In a thrilling display of frenzied calculations, Year 9 prodigies, Daniel and Nico soared to the top echelons of mathematical brilliance by securing coveted gold awards and ranking in the top 8% nationwide.

The outstanding achievements of our students brings glory to our school and fills the mathematics department with immense pride.  The success of Daniel and Nico has earned them a coveted invitation to a further challenge, promising further honing of their sharp reasoning and deduction skills.

As the excitement builds, our younger students eagerly anticipate their inaugural Junior competition which takes place later this month.  The buzz and excitement in the classroom are palpable, fuelling exceptional participation and the fostering a culture of excellence.  With each challenge, our students inch closer to creating outstanding futures for themselves.  Keep up the good work!
