Athletics
Two weeks ago, thirteen of our athletes went over to the excellent facilities at Birmingham University to take part in the British Athletics S2S Initiative aimed at getting school students involved in athletics clubs. The athletes took part in a ball throw, long jump, sprint and a 600m race against fellow students from all across Birmingham and were an absolute credit to the school – well Done All!
Cross Country
With the miserable weather of late, cross country has taken a hit with two races cancelled in two weeks. The second league race however finally took place last Wednesday at Langley School and a small team of runners turned out and were rewarded by a lot of top finishes in what were much smaller fields.
Well Done to all the runners for their top displays, with extended congratulations going to the top 20 finishers all whom have been selected to represent Solihull Schools at the weekend in the West Midland Trials at Sutton Park! They are:
Freya (1), Kezia (7), Alicia (22), Lily (24), Euan (7), Adam (9), Jack (12), Kirsten (10), Georgia (11), Tom (3), Ben (4) and Regan (6).
Netball
Well done to the Year 11 netballers who got off to a winning start in their league campaign beating St Martins away last week! Many Thanks go to Jess who stepped in to help the team when they were a player short!
The Year 9 netball ‘A’ Team travelled to Lode Heath to play the Solihull tournament with a mixed bag of results leaving them in position of not progressing beyond the knock out stages. Congratulations to the team none the less who represented us so well what is a competitive and very able year group! Team made up of: included: Ella, Jess, Katarina, Millie, Lucy, Sophia, Charlotte and Holly.
Football
Commiserations go to the Year 8 and Year 11 Football team who lost against St Peters and Grace Academy in Coventry respectively. Both groups of boys worked hard to contest the games against excellent opponents but in the latter stages they just came unstuck. There were some late goals and the score lines went against us. Final scores: Year 8 L 4-1 and Year 11 L8-1.
The Girls Football teams kicked off their seasons last week over at John henry Newman School, where we proved a little rusty and unfortunately were at the wrong end of two score lines against convincing winners. The Year 7 and 8 scorers were Eva and debuts for Molly, Year 7 and Alicia, Year 8 in games ending with 9-3.
The u15s were missing a few players due to injuries but they worked hard and can come away with their heads held high. Excellent performances from the girls who were without a keeper so they all had to take a stint in goal! Team members: Jess, Emily, Emily, Hollie and Lois.
