An exciting report of sporting awards and celebrations this week from Heart of England:
Year 10 GCSE PE student Charlotte is a newly crowned national champion after her club, Barkers’ Butts took victory in the national Finals at Worcester on Sunday. Charlotte started playing rugby in Year 7 at school and has never looked back. Joining the local side and developing into a skilled prop she has captained her side during a victorious campaign this season. We wish her all the very best going forward in her sport for which she has massive potential!
These last two weeks have seen annual presentation evenings for cross country and netball by the Solihull Schools Sports Associations. Both events saw Heart of England students pick up trophies and medals for their performances this season. A massive well done to the Year 8 netball team who had an undefeated season and won the league and our individual and team medallists in cross country namely, Jess, Euan, our Year 7 boys, Year 10 boys teams and our senior team.
Former Heart of England athlete and now Arden Sixth Former Ella also picked up a prestigious award at the cross country awards ceremony for her participation in 7 years of cross country league races in Solihull. Her season concluded with a victory in the senior girls’ category. Ella raced for Heart of England for the first five of those years and every credit goes to her for such a terrific dedication through her secondary school life.
Last Saturday 4 May, a lucky group of girls from the school football teams travelled to Wembley to see the FA cup final between Manchester City and West Ham United. Manchester City won 3-0 in a great display of women’s football and the students represented the school magnificently well in their conduct throughout the day. We look forward to supporting the England Lionesses in the World Cup next month!
