Sixth Form Prospectus: Our Vision

Building for the Future

Franklin D Roosevelt once said: “We cannot always build the future for our youth, but we can build our youth for the future.” At Heart of England Sixth Form, that is exactly what we are about. We see ourselves as a Sixth Form that helps to create and shape futures for our students. When our students leave us at the end of Year 13 they are not just leaving with excellent results, they are leaving as well rounded, courageous and determined students who are prepared for life beyond our gates.

As Head of Post 16 my vision is simple: to create an environment where academic excellence is central to all we do by ensuring that our students are given the best quality education, delivered by the most talented of teachers. Equally, I am passionate that we prepare our students for the world of work, to ensure that they have the skills and expertise to achieve not only in the exam hall but for the rest of their lives.

In the Sixth Form we continue to focus on the five core values that are central to life at Heart of England School.

  • Courage: our students are willing to take risks. Sometimes being a little bold is central to learning. Our staff create an environment where it is safe to take a risk, to ‘have a go’.
  • Determination: our students are determined to succeed by conquering the challenges they encounter. Success is achieved through hard work. Our students are encouraged to be the best they can be both academically and in life.
  • Honesty: our students are honest and trust is valued highly at Heart of England Sixth Form. Student Voice plays a big part in day-to-day life and we welcome honest conversations and opinions that help us to be the best that we can be.
  • Kindness: our students display this every day in Sixth Form. We see the value in helping others as illustrated by our mentoring programme and the vast amount of charity work undertaken.
  • Humour: is central to life at Heart of England Sixth Form. The excellent relationships between students and staff result in a positive environment where learning is key.

Whether you have a clear sense of what you want to do or are yet to discover it, we are here to inspire; our excellent teaching and pastoral staff will do all they can to bring out the best in you and help you be the best you can be.

Head of Post 16

Heart of England is a community, where students and teachers care greatly about the school. The opportunities the school has presented to me have encouraged me to develop academically and as a well-rounded individual.
