Sixth Form Prospectus: Destinations

Destinations

After Sixth Form our students build on their achievements at Heart of England Sixth Form to take their next steps. There are many destinations made possible by their choices and here are a few of them:

Name: Matthew Brookes

Studied:

                Mathematics

                Further Maths

                Computer Science

                Physics

What I’m doing now:

Studying Computing (MEng) at Imperial College, London.

How Heart of England helped me:

“I was greatly supported by Heart of England, especially for references.  I was particularly supported for my international applications. Whilst Imperial was not my originally intended destination it has certainly been fantastic and I am looking forward to the next few years here. Hopefully more students consider applying here as the demand for STEM graduates is increasing and companies are often paying lots to secure anyone with an Imperial Degree.”

Name: Anna Nightingale

Studied:

                English literature

                French

                Geography

                History

What I’m doing now:

Studying English at the University of Cambridge.

How Heart of England helped me:

“Heart of England encouraged me to develop my personal interests and to think both critically and broadly about the topic at hand. My subjects afforded me the opportunity to hone both my written and verbal communication. These skills have equipped me well for university and, I hope, the workplace.”

Name: Chris Mitchell

Studied:

                Chemistry

                Mathematics

                Physics

                Further Maths

What I’m doing now:

Studying Chemical Engineering (MEng) at the University of Birmingham

How Heart of England helped me:

“Heart of England provided me with support and guidance whilst studying for my A levels and throughout the UCAS application and interview process. A wide range of extra-curricular activities were also available to me which enriched my skills and school experience. Staff always made time to help outside of lessons whenever it was needed and ensured that work was challenging and fulfilling, giving the best preparation for Degree level work.”

From experience, I can say that the support from teachers is excellent across the curriculum; from helping you to pluck up the courage to participate in your first drama or music lesson, to encouraging you to cook or speak a new language.
