Catering: Chinese New Year Menu
Monday 23 January is Chinese New Year and our catering service are offering an optional celebration menu on Monday. Vegetable Spring Rolls and Egg Fried Rice, Chinese Sticky Chicken Wings and Egg Fried Rice and Sweet Chilli Noodles.
Year 9 Assessment Week
Year 9 assessment week is week beginning 23 January 2023. Individual subjects will let students know which day the assessment is. More information available from Mr Haston.

Second Hand School Uniform
Thank you to all those families who have kindly donated their old school uniform. This has enabled us to support families who might be struggling with the cost of new uniform, together with allowing students with damaged or misplaced uniform to temporarily borrow items. Please continue to drop off your donations of clean, good quality uniform at school Reception and we will gratefully make very good use of them.
PTA
PTA Quiz on 10 February 7pm for 7.30pm start. Fish & Chips plus bar. Tickets options from £2.50 to £10.80, available on the EventBrite website.
English Afterschool Sessions: Thursdays 3.30pm
The days are getting lighter, time to illuminate your understanding of English Literature: so Karimjee’s afterschool sessions on Thursdays. Family poems and/or Macbeth to start with. Room M 217. Bring a snack. 3.30-4.30. Let me know if there is something you really want to recap, ideally beforehand.
ID Card Requirement
Students must use their ID cards or fingerprint to purchase food. Any students without their ID cards with them will be served separately. If your child needs a replacement card, you can purchase one on ParentPay and collect it from the Finance office M 102.

School Show: Legally Blonde: 7-9 March, 7.30pm
The school show this year is the musical Legally Blonde. Tickets from £4.50 to £7.50 available online from Tuesday 24 January.
Clubs
- KS3 Book Club: KS3 Book Club is on Tuesday. Bring lunch and join us in M 124
- Music: Music Clubs restart this coming week and Practise Rooms will also be open for use
- Netball: will run on Thursday, but it will be cancelled next week (12 January) due to a basketball fixture
Poetry Club: Workshop Opportunity
Poetry Club have been presented with an exciting opportunity to attend a workshop run by the poet Matt Windle www.poetrywithpunch.com. Balsall Common Library on the 16 March.
Industrial Action: 1 February 2023
As you may be aware the NEU (National Education Union) have announced that their membership has voted in favour of industrial action. The first of these proposed dates is 1st February 2023 followed by further dates in March.
Please be assured that we are in the process of assessing the impact this proposed action will have on our capacity to keep our school open to pupils on the 1st February.
Apologies for the period of uncertainty and we will update you as soon as possible on the plans for the 1st February to aid your own planning.
