World Autism Awareness and Acceptance Week (28 March – 3 April)

This week is Autism Awareness Week.  Tutors will be talking to students about it during the week in Tutor time.

New Minibus

We are very pleased to announce that we have taken delivery of a new minibus to replace one of our old ones which has reached the end of its life.  It will be a great asset to the school and provide students with a much better and more reliable ride!

Author Visit

Celebrated author Jo Cotterill will be visiting school on Wednesday 18 May 2022 to give 3 workshops centred around writing creatively.  A great opportunity to meet a real-life author!  Only 90 places so first come, first served.  Details emailed to parents/carers.  Voluntary contribution of £5.50 made payable to ParentPay.

Public Speaking

Congratulations to the Heart of England Public Speaking Team.  The group performed brilliantly in the regional finals this weekend, coming a close second to Alcester Grammar.  They were described as “impressive,” “charismatic” and “a credit to the school.”  The team, who are regulars in debate club, are in the middle of their mock exams so their performance against so many selective schools was truly awesome.

People in Crisis/Collection for Refugees

On 5 May Year 8 will have a visit from someone who works in a refugee centre to talk about their work.  Students in all years have been given a list of essential items which anyone can donate to help out with this much needed work.  Items will be collected during tutor time.  See Miss Goodwin for more details.
