The wait for GCSE and A Level results is over for another year and Heart of England students have benefitted from their hard work and opened up new opportunities for themselves.
A Levels
Last week our A Level students saw the fruits of their labours with a large number of students getting A, A, B grades resulting in successful take up of university and college places.
“We have students going to university to study some really exciting courses, including Law, Chemical Engineering, Zoology, Mathematics and Biochemistry. An increasing number of students are leaving us to embark on some excellent Apprenticeship and employment opportunities too,” said Grace Theay, Head of Post 16.
A Level student Alex completed Computer Science, Business and Maths and is on his way to Lancaster University to study Software Engineering. “I’ve done really well and got into my first choice university.”
Many students have done so well, in particular; Tommy Allsop, Oliver Schiffman, Josh Smith, Alex Hawkins, Katherine Hickson and Bradley Hopkins with many gaining several A* grades.
“I am immensely proud of all of our students and wish them the very best of luck for their future careers, whether it be in further education or in the workplace,” said Mrs Theay.
GCSEs
Our GCSE students have also done well. Against a backdrop of increased challenge around the new GCSE specifications, Heart of England students achieving Grade 4+ was over 10% higher than the national average and approximately 23% of the all Grades were at least 7/A.
“There are so many individual success stories and congratulations go to all who achieved today’s impressive results,” said Vice Principal Gethyn Bennett. Some of our most outstanding results were achieved by; Megan Little, Hugo Stoney, Cleo Murphy-Hogg, Ellie Matthews, Robert Scarrott, Nelly Smedmore and Robert Stimson… to name but a few.
Successful GCSE student Thea is looking forward to Sixth Form at Heart of England to do English Literature, History and Spanish. “I’m really happy and very glad I passed Maths!” she said.
“Once again our students have achieved excellent results against a national picture of change. They have worked hard to meet the challenges of revised methods of assessment and increased levels of difficulty. Today’s results are testimony to their determination combined with the skill and dedication of all our staff and governors,” said the Principal, Jacqueline Hughes-Williams.
