To all our school leavers: Please see below some very interesting comments from students who have made the jump from education to the workplace. The content may not always be specifically relevant to you but the steps to get there and the skills used could well come in handy.
During this unusual time, there are students who are making and preparing for transition choices, particularly in Years 11 and 13. All the usual rhythms and patterns of how this takes place are different this year and to help with that The Careers and Enterprise Company have put together some career talks of slightly older, recent school leaver’s who have made the transition from education to workplace.
These come from a diverse range of young people from different backgrounds who have gone on to apprenticeships, traineeships and university or college.

- Bejay is a 24 year old Entrepreneur from East London. His career story started at just 14 years of age by starting a lemonade stand in his school playground
- Mia is an 18 year old Campaign Planner at HomeServe in Walsall. She spent her whole life wanting a career in musical theatre, but changed her mind in Year 13. She tells us how she resisted the automatic option to go to university by trying out work experience – a decision which has changed her career for the better
- Callum is a 21 year old Claims Handler at Aviva in Norwich. Despite struggling with lessons at school, Callum shares his insight about how his love of people and socialising led him to a brilliant career.
